Dolphin Girl eBook Shel Delisle Reviews

This is such a beautiful story, even though it is not very popular. This story was recommended to me by a good friend, and I am So glad that I read it. Jane's character was relatable and funny, I definitely enjoyed it and I recommend it to all readers!
I loved this book it was a great book for pre-teens and teens. It is a wonderful experience to rea this book the people in this book face lots of problems Jane(main character) has found a new frush but doent know how to talk to him and then her brother got marrie secrretly and got his new wife pregnet without any one knowing theres lots of probs inthis book but u learn how to rac them.
LOVE is running through the book and me for the book. Simply perfect, showing the complicated problems in the social group. Shows perfect betrayal. Perfect expertise on making someone peek a bit because they laugh so hard (skinny-dipping). And great 'oh-no-they-didn't' moments (the trick moment when she asked him out). Simply hilarious and an easy book to become a favorite. Suggested for girls above 13.
Good book but too pricey
It's not often that I get totally ignore-the-world-around-me interested in a book, right from page one. Usually it takes me a while to warm up to the characters, to believe in them, to root for whatever it is they want me to root for.

But that's not how it was, when I met Jane.

Chapter one of Shel Delisles's debut novel , Dolphin Girl, opens like this sixteen year old Jane's sitting in a tattoo parlor. And while the big, seriously inked guy's scratching her skin with a two-and-a-half millimeter needle (yeah, a NEEDLE) filled with blue dye, she tells him the story of why she chose to permanently put a dolphin on her back.

But I'm not going to tell you the story now. Why? `Cause I want you to feel those same shivers creep up your arms that I did when I read Jane's story for the first time. And again when I saw her follow her dreams, despite all odds. And again when she proved to me time and time again, that she was no plain Jane.

Yep, pretty much from chapter one, I was in love. Not just with Jane, but with her whole deal the brother, his fiancé, the heart-throb named Sam and yeah, the dolphins. Oh my god, those dolphins. And from there on, I rooted for Jane. I mean, who wouldn't want a girl who actually communicates with dolphins to prevail? As Carl Sagan once said, "some dolphins are reported to have learned English--up to fifty words in context--no human being has reported to have learned dolphinese."

For me, that says it all. Swim free, sweet Jane.
A cute read but I wished more was explained why Jane could communicate with dolphins. Otherwise there was just enough teenage drama that it was entertaining but not overdone.
Great book!
Jane is artsy and free-spirited, trapped in a stifling home life. Things aren't much better for her at school where she feels confined by cliques and social mores. A kindred spirit of dolphins, Jane longs for open waters. When she falls for Sam, a sweet guy who's "off limits" because he's from a different "pod," Jane seeks the courage to remove the constraints in her life that hold her back.
The characters are true to life and richly drawn. I especially loved the interwoven story of Jane's brother John and his wife Desiree, which shows how life can get messy and still be good.
Dolphin Girl is a tale of freedom, family, friendship, and love. A thoroughly enjoyable read!
