The book is actually very good. I read it in one breath. Stayed up all night and read and read and read... But I’m absolutely disappointed with how the author handles the publishing of the 3rd book. I pre-ordered the third book and it was set to arrive on Feb 23rd and I was sooooo excited until... the order got canceled 2 days before arriving because the publisher didn’t publish it. And that was that. No warning, no explanation. Just a cancelled order and a pissed off me. It’s irresponsible when the author doesn’t give even a simple “Sorry”. I mean I don’t expect her to write me a letter personally. But there is no info on her website either. The book was canceled out of the blue. It’s nonexistent here on Amazon on there’s no information on goodreads either. 2 days before it was set to release. This is irresponsible behavior and highly disappointing for me as a reader.

Controlling the Dead The Famished Trilogy Book 2 eBook Annie Walls tfc Parks Reviews
I haven't been able to stop reading The Famished Trilogy since I started the 1st book 2 days ago!! The plot is impeccable, the characters so colorful & well built that you can EASILY picture them & EVERY move they make!! I love the love story that was interwoven into the stories, because it's done in a way that doesn't take away from what's happening in the book, it's like a passenger in the car, as opposed to the driver... With the driver being the Zombies! The LOVE story in this book is the icing on top of the cake! FANTASTICALLY INCORPORATED!!! Annie Walls knew what she was doing when she wrote these books!! She was born with the DEVINE ABILITY to write in a way that draws you into her stories, that's understandable & sucks you into the context wanting to turn keep turning (or in language click the screen for the next page) the pages at break neck speed, to find out what happens going to happen next! This is a Trilogy that I'll be sad to finish, because it's a Trilogy I want to keep reading & NEVER finish!! I honestly haven't been this excited to read since "Twilight", "The Hunger Games" & the "Divergent" Novels... To an extent, I've actually enjoyed "The Famished Trilogy" (so far, because I still need the next book!) even more than the books I listed above!!! This Trilogy, hands down, deserves to be made into a movie!!! If I had the money I'd start the casting of it right now, in anticipation of reading next (last?) book!! -)
This series has been left unfinished. Don't waste money on it.
There is something special about the way Annie Walls' mind works. It's so easy to fall into this world she's created. A world with zombies, voodoo, love, hate, murder and raw survival.
The second books in The Famished Trilogy starts off with a trip to the Louisiana Bayou. Really, could you find a more perfect setting for a creepy zombie tale? Nope. Kansas is searching for the only person she knows with an ability to control the putrid walking dead. She hopes to gain information and instead finds herself in a truly precarious position.
She now has a certain 'knowledge' that makes her dangerous and also puts her in danger. On top of that hassle, she's struggling with her past in more than one way. It's effecting her current life and her current relationships.
What I love most about Kan is her ability to always fight. Not just physically, but emotionally. She's really put through the ringer in Taking on the Dead and that doesn't stop with Controlling the Dead. Yet, she always looks at a bigger picture for everyone. Even when she's beat down and heart broken, she looks for answers, she sacrifices her happiness and safety for others. But she isn't so determined and gristled that she has lost her vulnerability. She has some very soft and tender human moments.
Because that is really what Walls has written. A human story. It just happens to reside inside of the zombie apocalypse. I admire how human she made the story and even though I hated some of the events that take place, they made the story feel so much more real. She doesn't always make the easy choice.
I loved every bit of this installment of the trilogy but that end... Oh my, that end. It left me reeling in frustrated excitement. The last 15% of Controlling the Dead sets us up for what I can only imagine is going to be some epic stuff.
